|  | | Hubei expects a 100-million-ton Wuhan New Port |

¡¡¡¡Wuhan port and shipping management authorities in Hubei Province recently announced that Wuhan Municipal Government had approved a proposal to build a "Wuhan New Port".
¡¡¡¡According to the draft plan, the new port's left bank will extend from from Yaotou in Huangpi District to Caihuliao in Huanggang City, covering a 59,720-metre shoreline. The right bank will run from Wugang Canal estuary in Qingshan District to exit of Chang Harbor in E'zhou City, a 71,310-metre shoreline. There will be 10 major operation areas including Yangluo, Wugang, Beihu, Gedian and so on, with an additional 194 berths to be added to the existing 27. By 2010, the 2nd Phase of Yangluo Port Area will be completed. By 2015, six major operation areas like Beihu and Gedian are to finish, while 2025 will see accomplishment of the whole project with the new port able to handle 160 million tons annually.
