|  | ¡¡¡¡¡ôCOSCO Shipping Co., Ltd. announced that business revenue in the first half was up 41 %over the same 2007 period to RMB3.46 billion (USD505.1 billion), with net profits at RMB853.05 million.
¡¡¡¡COSCO realized RMB1.3 in earnings per share for the six months, a growth of 140% on the same period of last year. Its net assets per share averaged RMB6.06, up 49.96% and the net assets per share ratio was up 8.09% to 21.48%. ¡¡¡¡¡ôChina Merchants Energy Shipping Co Ltd said first half net profit is expected to have risen by over 80% year-on-year.
¡¡¡¡In a statement filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the company said that the sharp profit increase is due to rising freight charges, the sale of two ships and lower operating costs.
