¡¡¡¡Xinjiang's first intermodal international rain started off
¡¡¡¡At 14:40 on July 31st, 2008, Xinjiang's first rail-sea intermodal transport international train pulled away from its departure point. This trip started from Eight Steel Urumqi, went straight to Aktau Port of Kazakhstan, after sea transport in the Caspian Sea, arrived in An Zhali Port of Iran. This marks Xinjiang's successful opening of channels to the west to the sea. Aktau port is expected to become "West Tianjin Port" for Xinjiang to the Caspian Sea.
¡¡¡¡This also means Xinjiang has added a new channel for export products. This new channel will not only greatly reduce transport times, but also significantly cut transportation costs. Products from Xinjiang in can now be rapidly exported to oil-exporting countries surrounding the Caspian Sea, and may be further extended to the Persian Gulf.
¡¡¡¡Xiamen Port opens domestic trade container intermodal
¡¡¡¡Following the opening of foreign trade container rail-sea intermodal transport in Xiamen Port, the Northeast-Xiamen-Ganzhou container rail-sea intermodal transport also opened recently. This is the first domestic trade container rail-sea intermodal transportation channel of Xiamen Port.
¡¡¡¡It is learnt that the opening of this rail-sea intermodal transport channel is mainly based on the internal needs of Ganzhou and the Northeast. Once Xiamen becomes a transfer port from the Northeast to Ganzhou, the port¡¯s throughput will increase, while shipping merchants will be provided with another cheap and convenient route, reaching to a multi-win-win situation.
¡¡¡¡YICT opens Jiangxi-Shenzhen intermodal service
¡¡¡¡Aug.5th, YICT launched a container rail service that links Longnan County in Jiangxi Province to YICT. The new rail service will cost 20% less than road transport over the same distance. This will greatly benefit exporters and importers in Longnan and the surrounding areas.
¡¡¡¡Longnan is the nearest county in the province to the Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong and Macao. Longnan also has the only county-level Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in Central and Western China. This bureau provides customs declaration, inspection and procedural services for enterprises in the area.
