¡¡¡¡Taiwan's Evergreen Group has suspended its plans to charter a series of eight 12,500 TEU vessels from the Niki Group. Such orders are generally subject to the conclusion of a long term charter deal, and in this particular case, it seems adequate terms could not be found between the owner and charterer. Given the massive amount of ULCS and VLCS which are to come on stream within the next few years, Evergreen might now try to buy and/or sublet young secondhand tonnage from lines who receive numerous large newbuildings for their mainline trades.
