¡¡¡¡August 13th, Zhanjiang, the draft design of the long-cherished Zhanjiang 300,000-ton Channel ¡§C the deepest main-made channel in Asia preliminary passed the examination in a meeting arranged by the Ministry of Transport.
¡¡¡¡The 300,000-ton Channel in Zhanjiang Port will be further widening and dredging deep the existing 250,000-ton channel, but strictly according to the requirements towards a one-way 300,000-ton standard project. The total length will be 54.9km. A 300,000-ton capacity will be helpful for transport of imported energy and raw materials by large ships, thus lowering transport costs, enhancing core competitiveness of the port, bringing in more profits, strengthening the status of Zhanjiang Port as a hub in the South China coastal areas, then finally promoting the portside industry as well as the hinterland economy.
