¡¡¡¡Our reporters lately learned from the Fujian Provincial Department of Transport: by the end of the "11th Five-Year Plan", Fujian will strive to complete Xiamen, Fuzhou, the two 100-million ports, and by 2012, three 100-million ports- Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou will all be accomplished.
¡¡¡¡Reportedly Fujian will continue to promote the "two-container, two-bulk" scheme, which are two container terminals based on Xiamen Port and Jiangyin in Fuzhou Port, simultaneously the two bulk distribution centers based on Meizhou Bay and Luoyuan Bay in Fuzhou Port. This is to intensify the port handling capacity. According to the plan, by 2010, container handling capacity of Xiamen Port will reach 10 million TEUs, Jiangyin in Fuzhou Port to 2.5 million TEUs, these two will aim at growing into two major container hubs. Bulk cargo handling capacity in Meizhou Bay will mount to 60 million tons, while Luoyuan Bay get to 30 million tons, thus to form two coastal bulk cargo transshipment centers.
